Hi,
I think I am getting an iBook in a couple of weeks, and since i'm on 56k I have downloaded a few big files on my PC. I searched on google to see if I could just burn the files normally and they would work on Mac. But I found that if I open the files in Windows the Data Fork would get damaged or something.
The file was a .sit, and i downloaded StuffIt for windows to see what was in the file. I extracted the .dmg file and put it in a folder which i want to burn to cd.
My first question is, will the .dmg be damaged, or will I still be able to open it on the Mac?
Second, on my google search again it said that executables (i'm assuming .dmg is a Mac executable?) cant just be burned normally, but I could really figure it out from what was said how I do it. Can anyone help?
Thanks a lot!

DMG file is a compressed file format being used widely on Mac computer. Windows OS doesn't natively support DMG disk image files, so if you need to create a bootable USB drive from a DMG file, mostly for bootable Mac OS X or macOS installation USB, you need a special utility to help you complete the task.
Burn Dmg Image In Windows
- Burn a DMG or ISO File to Disk After you have downloaded a program's installation file (.dmg format for a Mac-compatible program.iso format for a Windows-compatible program) to a Macintosh computer's hard drive, you can burn this.dmg or.iso file to a blank CD or DVD.
- Convert DMG to ISO and Make Bootable USB from ISO. Since Windows doesn't offer native support.
- Next, click on your mounted DMG file on the left panel and click on ‘Burn' in the top toolbar. When you see the ‘Burn Disk In:' message, click on the USB drive. The DMG file will now be burned to the USB drive, and you can use it to do program installations. Convert dmg to iso linux command line.
