There are many kinds of locks in Apple products.

This is different than the Carrier Locked I mentioned earlier.
Some people they signed the contract from Maxis to get the iPhone cheaper. Usually it’s still under installment plan like 12 or 24 months.
If the owner didn’t pay or clear the bill, Maxis will lock the iPhone to prevent it to use any other Malaysia SIM Card.
Yes, just Malaysia SIM card cannot. It still can use on other countries.

Malaysia telco locked won’t show invalid SIM message like carrier lock. It’s just showing No Service with whatever SIM you inserted.
But if you use it in another country, it works perfectly. It just blocked all the Malaysia carrier.

But let's make sure it's not a motherboard problem first

If nothing show up after you entered *#06#, then it’s a motherboard one of the chipset called Baseband is not working. It can be repaired.

How To Tell If Iphone Is Unlocked

If there is IMEI show up, then it’s not a motherboard problem. It’s the telco lock.

There is a chance a Network IC problem if you were using it a long time without a problem, and then it suddenly becomes No Service.

The only solution is to swap the whole iPhone or just replace the motherboard which is not cheap.
